Would it be possible to update the "shortage Forecast" report to enable sorting of the columns? Currently, it is possible on the snapshot report but not the Forecast report.

What sorting would you want?
The shortage forecast is already sorted chronologically (in date order) showing when items are required and when they should be purchased.
If the reported was sorted differently then all of the dates etc would be wrong.
If you don't want the dates then just use the snapshot.
Or click the green excel [X] button to export the report to an excel compatible CSV file where you can manipulate it ay way you want.

When we cut PO's, it's generally one vendor at a time. It would be nice to sort first by vendor then date just so we could check the "order" box. We use the need by dates when we purchase so using the snapshot report isn't practical.

I just double checked the report. You are not sorting by the "order before" date. You are sorting by part number. That make the report useless unless you export to excell and sort it outside the system. So can you at least have it sorted by the date? I would again also prefer the ability to sort by vendor / date as well. I'm running 4.2.82 (s)

I agree on the sort suggestion from Troy.

Of course it groups the report by part number. Thats obvious and goes without saying.
If an item appears on purchase orders and work orders (ie multiple orders) then the group is sorted by date so that the report shows, chronologically, how purchase orders and works orders affects the available quantity of the item going forward.
Any other sorting of that report would make the report pointless. Its a forecast.

Hello troy. Your original post at the very top of this page asked for the report to be sortable by clicking the column headers.
I'm not sure that could work on the shortage forecast report. Maybe we need a make a different/sortable report. Maybe you and I can discuss that later. But for now lets look at that forecast report.
If an item is common and appears on a number of different work orders and purchase orders on different days then the report will group that item so that all occurrences of that item are together. It then sorts within the group by date showing the effect that each order/transaction has on the available quantity. It then highlights the date on which the onhand quantity falls below zero. This is obviously the date on which you can no longer build product because you're out of materials.
I'm sure you appreciate that if we did allow the report to be sorted - say by clicking the quantity header - then it wouldn't be a problem if each item only appeared once on the report. But if items appeared multiple times on the report in many different purchase orders and work orders then sorting would scatter the item and break up the date sequence. Basically destroying the forecast.
Troy I'll be in touch with you by email shortly.
