Topic: Adding a "Customers" section to each item's file
|
| By: Simone | Posted on: Feb 5 2026 at 06:05:11 AM | Dear Support,
in our company, we produce practically everything in-house, so the “Suppliers” list in each assembly's file is always empty. We only purchase components externally.
I suggest adding a "Customers" section to each item's file (assembly or component) to store your customers' part numbers and prices.
Just as it already happens with supplier purchases (when you enter an order, the program only displays the list of codes stored in the "Suppliers" file - and their prices, updated every time the "Goods-in" occurs), the same thing could happen when entering a customer's order: the program would display only the list of part numbers stored in the "Customers" file, for the selected assembly (or component) that you want to sell. This would also be useful for storing and leveraging a price list, differentiated by customer, quantity, and effective year, thus avoiding having to manually enter it into the customer order each time, with the burden of searching for it in the paperwork and the risk of making a mistake.
The program currently allows you to sell any item from the warehouse, whether coded as a component or assembly. To maintain this possibility, and avoid being limited to the list of part numbers stored in this new "Customers" tab (for a component or assembly), perhaps adding a flag in the "Setup" section to select the most suitable mode for the user would be enough.
I hope to see this idea implemented soon, as I find it very useful and would give your program an extra boost.
Thank you for your attention and keep up the good work.

I'm sorry. We won't be adding Customer part numbers to MiniMRP. There's currently no table in the database to store the relationship between customers and customer part numbers. It would require a breaking change to everyone else's MniMRP (ie to upgrade the database file with new tables) whether they want this feature or not. We never do that in a current version.
In theory it 'could' be added to the next major version release.
But we do worry about your comment:-
This would also be useful for storing and leveraging a price list, differentiated by customer, quantity, and effective year
Already you are thinking ahead and adding even more complexity to what is supposed to be a 'MINI' mrp.

I understand your point about MiniMRP. But I also think that something "mini" sometimes has the right to think big, just as a child dreams of growing up... at least, a little bit!
So, I truly hope you've understood this need and marked it on your famous "to do list" for an upcoming major release, which I hope to see very soon.
Thanks

But everyones ideas are different. Everyone wants something different.
If we did add everyones ideas we wouldn't have a MiniMRP. We would have a MegaHugeMRP - at a different price point with an annual support contract and send out people to do expensive onsite training sessions and . . . No. That's not the target audience for MiniMRP. | |

at last, for each of my finished products, I created a list of customer part numbers with their corresponding price lists, using the "Suppliers" section of the assembly’s file. To do this, I catalogued these customers as suppliers too.
This way, when you fill out a customer order, after entering the product item, you simply double-click on its row to open the product sheet and immediately view the aforementioned price list, from which you can obtain the correct price you have to insert in the order.
At this point, it would be great if the search within assemblies (whose range is limited to part number and description) could be extended to the part numbers entered in the "Suppliers" section. This would make it easier to find the product based on the code assigned by the customer.
I think at least this change to the search field, if not too difficult, will be truly USEFUL FOR ALL MiniMRP USERS.
Thanks
Simone
