What if the size of an assembly is not 1 but a whole batch of let's say 250 L? Is it possible to work with specific batch sizes for the assembly?

If your assembly was created for all the components to make 1 (ONE) In your case one liter.
Then creating a work order to build a quantity of 250 will multiply all the comonents (ingredients) upward.

So, create all assemblies to make ONE. Enough ingredients to make one liter. Then when you create a work order to build a batch simply make the work order to build the required number of liters and it'll create a BOM showing the quantities of ingredients necessary to make the required batch size.
Looking at some of your other questions though where it appears you have some product, or by-product, of the build process needing to be looped back as an ingredient into the same build process from which it came. That sounds like something special requirement and there's probably software out there specifically designed for that trade/industry. Probably very expensive software I imagine. You may be able to figure out some way to use MiniMRP but I'm afreaid it's not something we could advise on because we simply don't understand your distillation process.

Thanks - that was also my understanding from the test. One think I miss though is the UOM on the work order as I mentioned in another post.
