Topic: BIN SETUP AND MULTI WAREHOUSE WORKFLOW
|
By: Adrian | Posted on: Oct 20 2020 at 04:39:22 PM | 1. Can I have one part number be located in multiple bins? Seems the BIN label stick with the part number and not a certain volume of that part number. FOr example, I have 1000 pcs in China, 500 pcs in Canada and 200 pcs in Inventory. Where I need to keep track of the volumes and location for the single part number. Please advise best method if it is possible.
2. Multi warehouse Mode - Can I place an order from my one warehouse and have it remove quantity from my other warehouse? How is this done? What is the suggested way to do this? Or is manually the only way?

Your second question. If you are physically sat in China and you create a customer order and ship to the customer then it takes qauntity from inventory in China.
But you can always switch locations in software. So, before creating the order, click the button to switch your location to Canada. Now everything you do occurs in Canada and even though you're physically sat in China, the order is placed in Canada and shipped from Canada.

1. Okay so there is no way to have multiple BIN locations at the same factory. For example, I have part stock that has been received but NOT inspected (lets say 1000pcs), but I also have "inspected" stock which is classified as "Inventory". All the parts are in Canada with 1000pc received (uninspected parts needing inspection) and 100 pc in "Inventory" (inspected parts cleared for inventory)? I need to keep track of these quantities and locations. Is this possible? How?
2. You misunderstood my question. I want to place an order at the minimrp "Canadian warehouse" so it deducts the volume from the miniMrp "China warehouse". Like placing an internal order for parts to have my china factory ship to our canada factory and the quantities update accordingly.
thanks for your help! | |

2. To get parts from China to Canada then you can do a 'Transfer'. In 'All Components' RightClick the item and select the option to 'Adjust Quantity'. Select the option to 'Transfer (One site to another).
But I do know of multi-site companies who have eachother as supplier/customer and they simply place purchase orders. So, in your case Canada would have China as a Supplier and place a purchase order to China. China completes the orders ships to canada. Canada receives materials in via the GoodsIn process. This is more long winded than our simple 'Transfer' process but, for whatever reason, they prefer doing it that way.
