Topic: Changing leadtime units from day to weeks
|
By: Matt Rupert | Posted on: Aug 16 2025 at 12:30:14 AM | Hello Support,
Any way in a future release we can get an option to change the lead time from days to maybe weeks or months. Most of my suppliers on parts all list leadtime as weeks.

From our point of view we'd need to add another drop down list of options, days, weeks, months etc. But it adds a layer of complexity such as 'Whole' months or part? I mean today is August 18. If an item has a lead time of one month does that mean it'll be available on September 18. Or October 1.
Nobody has ever asked for this before so, To be hostest, I can't see this being considered. Sorry.
By: SteveT | Posted on: Aug 19 2025 at 12:54:49 PM | on the back of this post, is it possible to set them as "working days" (i.e. 5 days monday to friday) rather than just "days" (i.e. 7 days monday to sunday)? that would make the shortages report more accurate as every supplier I use show lead times in working days.
By: Support | Posted on: Aug 26 2025 at 09:50:52 AM | Hello Steve. Every supplier "you" use. Other users likely have suppliers that work 24/7 or a 6 day week. So 'working days' won't help them. What about holidays - in the UK yesterday (Monday 25 August) was a holiday. But that wouldn't have been the case in all countries.
Sorry. It just gets too complicated.

Here is a part Im putting into miniMRP. Digikey.com and look for this part 277-1221-ND or any in there. Look around there and you will see weeks is what all we use largely in this industry. To not alienate potential users please consider this change. Thank you.

Suggestion: Add a global setting to select if the Lead Time database field is rendered as either "Lead Time (Days)" or "Lead Time (Weeks)". Internally, the Lead Time database field remains as days which preserves the existing calculations and database structure. The only difference is that when "Lead Time (Weeks)" is used, then the lead time is viewed as int(days/7) and the user entered lead times are stored as weeks*7.
By: Matt Rupert | Posted on: Aug 29 2025 at 09:08:07 PM | Hello Support,
From the perspective if it says 4 weeks vs days where today is the August 29th and say, 4x7=28 days so Sept 26 is when something would be due if the PO had been placed on that day. Or at least it was shipped supposedly. For me the leadtime is when the supplier guesses when they can ship which is more about having a rough idea how far out something is going to be when the PO is placed. During covid suppliers only pushed out dates and nothing was on time and that number when from 20 to 52 weeks for a lot of things. Its a subjective number. So for us having that specific data locked down and in stone from the perspective of this mrp tool, its not that critical. Weeks are easier to makange, and my biggest issue is that for speed I want to enter a value there in weeks. If I have to convert it to days its a more challenging for me to convert that out to weeks to count it out on a calendar. Where when they say 10 weeks is easily 2.5 months, and gives a faster idea of how long I need to order ahead to make my production schedule. So please reconsider this feature request. Thank you Matt
