Hi,
We have a need for someone to access MiniMrp from home, while we also access at work. Our ideal solution seems to be to buy another license, then sign up for a cloud database service - i have seen a thread about Amazon and Google MySQL services.

The problem is we are not IT experts, so will need to get a company to help with this, my question is:-

Has anyone done this, maybe willing to give some pointers, is it reliable?

Anything that we can tell an IT company to help with this would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Hello. No. I can't think of anything special that we'd need to tell an IT company. Any IT/Support person should not have any problem setting up Amazon AWS or Google SQL and connecting to it it with MiniMRP.

Another idea might be to install an SQL server on your local/company network and have remote workers connect in to that via the internet. An advantage of that method is that once external users have authenticate to your internal VPN they'll have access to whatever other services/shared files etc just as if they were physically inside your local network.

Your IT people will surely explain things better than I can and will have their preferred methods so best if I leave it to them.

Another really simple method I use which doesnt involve any need for IT, is to remote access (eg Google remote or Team viewer) your work computer from home

Yes. Having the software installed on your office computer and then, from home, connect to your office computer remotely to run the software 'in the office' is probably the easiest to set up but also the most secure. Only downside is that your office computer needs to be powered on all the time ready for you to connect. Although maybe the office computer can sleep and be woken? I don't know. I just leave mine on and it works fine.
