Hello,

Am i using the correct assembly types? I have a top level product that i sell, this consists of sub asemblies.

But i want to create manual works orders for all the assemblies, i may want to build more than required or join works orders together.

I want the shortagaes report to tell me i need the sub assemblies, but thats it, i want to then create a works order, issue it and build it manually.

What asssembly type should i use for the top level, and the sub assemblies?

Thanks.

Yes. That is the exact purpose of CSAS sub assemblies.

When you create a work order to build your top level product then any sub assemblies with type ASSY will be built as part of the same work order.

But any CSAS sub assemblies will taken from your inventory. That may then show the CSAS as shortages in the shortage report. You will need to create separate work orders to build the CSAS sub assemblies to meet that shortage.

Of course you can build as many CSAS sub assemblies as you want and hold them in your inventory for use next time you build the top leve product.
