My stock work order assemblies that are in the WIP stage and used in other assemblies are not showing as "On Order" in the Work Order shortage list on the top level assembly. Is that correct? Are only purchasing orders shown as "On Order"

I just wanted to add this doesn't happen in the Reports->Shortages section. I can see the WIP/Allocated as On Order items.
Just not in the WorkOrders/WIP->View **** Work Orders->Choose show shortages for specific WO.

The 'Show Shortages' menu option for a specific work order can't be used as a planning/forecasting tool because it does not take any other work orders in to consideration. If multiple work orders call for the same materials that report would not tell you.
That report is only there to answer the question "Using my CURRENT inventory, ignoring everything else, can I build this NOW".
With that in mind things that are On Order can't affect that report.
