Topic: Error importing P&V data

Unhandled exception has occurred...
Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression "Steel Rect Tube 1-1/2" x 3/4" x 0.120"(11GA) x 24",1,72,1,'24 ft length',24)'.
I selected Continue, but it is taking a long time to move on, so I don't know if it has failed yet.
Looks like the double quote marks used for 'inches' are confusing the import? | |
| By: Support | Posted on: Oct 23 2019 at 02:11:01 PM | The " quotation mark shouldn't be a problem. But a single ' quote apostrophe can be a problem but MiniMRP should work round it automatically.

| By: Support | Posted on: Oct 25 2019 at 05:46:27 AM | Single quotes (apostrophe ' ) have a special meaning in the SQL Database language so MiniMRP and the P&V importer tool need to do a little extra work to make sure that the single quote does not cause a problem when it appears in any of your part numbers, descriptions etc.
MiniMRP itself is not affected by the above problem but data being imported from any other (non MiniMRP) system needs to go through our imported tool to be checked.
The problem is (was) that single quote at the very end of the error message. The P&V importer should have detected it but there is a problem when the length of the part number is exactly the full allowed length AND the very last character is a single quote. So, quite a rare thing I imagine which is why nobody else ever mentioned it.
Anyway. It's been fixed now and an update will be released later today (Oct 25 2019)
I would suggest you don't bother downloading this update unless you have a problem importing P&V data.
Any problems anyone does have with importing P&V data please do email us. We can usually fix it pretty quickly. | |

A company 'Trilogy' used to sell an inventory and BOM product called Parts&Vendors (P&V). That company ceased trading a few years ago and support is no longer available. The Minimrp button can read the data from a p&v database so p&v users can easily migrate to minimrp. | |
