Can I use MiniMRP on laptop and desktop pc providing I log off of one or do I need two licences. I am trialling the software at the moment.

Yes you can.
If/When you buy the software you'll be sent one licence key/code. Using that to 'activate' one licence is no problem. But when you use that key code on the the second computer you may see a message saying the code has been before. You can ignore than message and continue.
You said you'll close MiniMRP on one computer before starting on the other so there shouldn't be any problem. This is perfect for a single user who might do work on a computer in the office and then continue doing work on a laptop or home computer.

Would i need to buy a separate license for each user?
Do each of the users need to have the same license type, i.e. standard or professional?

If you want 5 users connected then yes. You will need to buy 5 licences. The price per licence is lower when you buy more than 1.
Yes. All must use the same Standard/Pro licence type.
The Pro version is more expensive but maybe ask yourself what 'Pro' features you need. If it's just simple database sharing where all users are on the same local network then the standard version can do that.
