Topic: Multi location of part and kitting
|
By: Guest | Posted on: Oct 16 2018 at 08:13:10 AM | I am using trial version. Your description says that minimrp support multi location of same parts. I do not see any where. Can you please enplane to me.
When i create WO. one window pop up and there is three option when i click "issue materials (pick now), I am not getting any pick sheet with location of part.
By: Support | Posted on: Oct 16 2018 at 03:35:31 PM | Your first question about Multiple Location. For that you need the 'Enterprise' edition of the software. See the downloads page.
Your second question about Pick Sheet with location.
Near the top of the BOM window is a blue wrench button. Click that and select the option to "Show/Hide Columns". Make sure the location (BIN) column is selected. Show any other columns you want.
MiniMrp remembers your selection so you don't need to do that every time.
You can now print the BOM and use that as your pick list.
The option to "Issue Materials (pick now)" takes all the components out of your inventory - it reduces the quantities in your inventory.

By: Guest | Posted on: Oct 17 2018 at 06:31:40 AM | I see multi location by warehouses. What if i have same item that store on different bin location in same warehouse. example: item 1 is stored in to bin1 and bin2 and warehouse1. Is there any way to see both storage location for Item 1.
By: Support | Posted on: Oct 17 2018 at 12:27:05 PM | Sorry no.
What would be the reason for multiple BINs containing the same item?
If I understand the requirement I can make a case for the software to be updated - if the requirement makes sense and many users could benefit from such an update.
By: Guest | Posted on: Oct 17 2018 at 04:42:08 PM | What happen when storage bin is full. We have same situation. That's why we are looking for multi bin location.
By: Guest | Posted on: Oct 18 2018 at 07:12:34 AM | When storage bin is full do you know exactly how many are in each bin? When somebody takes items from a bin do they know which bin to take from and then how many remain in each bin?
Maybe get bigger bins or simply put two or more bins side by side and treat them as one bin.
In our case we have an overflow area. We handle that as a separate warehouse. Just because minimrp can handle multiple warehouses doesn't mean that other warehouses need to be in a different town. The 'other' warehouse can just as easily the room next door.

By: Support | Posted on: Oct 18 2018 at 10:55:53 AM | Somebody asked what you do when the bin is full - do you know exactly how many are in each bin? How do you specify/control which bin users take from? You didn't answer that question.
Also, what about the suggestion of simply having the bins side by side with the same bin number.
I want to draw your attention to the word 'MINI' in the program name.
I would suggest that if your bins aren't big enough then you need bigger bins (or multiple bins side by side so they don't need different addresses. That would be the 'MINI' solution to your problem.
But to answer your question - I assume you mean when you look at the 'All Components' grid.
Each row of that grid shows the part number, description, quantity and all the other data for the part in your current default location. But if parts exist in the other location then it shows a small [+] button. When you click that button the row expands downwards showing quantity in the other locations.
Maybe you would rather have the quantities in two separate columns on the same row. That's fine if we can assume it will always be two bins. You might only have two bins so you'd say that an extra column isn't such a problem but as soon as we create a feature somebody else will want to expand on that feature and demand 5, 10 or 20 bins. Where will all those columns come from. MiniMRP would have to display all 20 columns all the time even if only one item existed in that 20th column.
So the [+] button indicates that quantities exist in other locations and clicking the [+] expands downwards to add more rows for the additional data.
I suppose it could be possible to have a menu or setup option that would automatically show all rows for all locations.
We're releasing a new version soon - I'll put this idea into the suggestion box.
By: Guest | Posted on: Oct 18 2018 at 12:21:16 PM | First i can not do side by side due to our current layout. If i need to do like side by side than we have to change our 50000 sqft warehouse layout and move all other bin which we have locked on location so that is nightmare for us.
According to our current bin design we can store 40-50 7" reel of electronic parts. If we change bin design than we need to change bin storage shelf design. That is lot of work and money.
User can take parts where ever they want according to requirement. User has all location on there pick sheet. For showing the row in to page, If parts qty 0 in bin location than you do not need to show raw for that location. You can unlock location tab in to form. When user receive material they can add location at same time. Give some like "+" sign to open new tab for location for same item.
I do have another question.
What if I have many alternate p/n in to BOM for same position. How to manage that portion. Like CUST BOM has Murata : GRM188R71H183KA01D and alternate ROHM : MCR10EZPJ103 (Position: R1, R2, R3, R4, R5) any function for these kind of situation?
By: A User | Posted on: Oct 19 2018 at 11:07:19 AM | We solve the alternate parts problem by listing both parts in the BOM. So, in your example, you would have the preferred part immediately followed by the alternate like this:-
P/N=GRM188R71H183KA01D, Quantity=5, Position=R1,R2..R5
P/N=MCR10EZPJ103, Quantity=0, Position=R1,R2..R5
The person picking the kit can see both parts and knows that the second part is an alternate part because it has quantity zero and occupies the same positions.
MiniMRP has a reduced subset of features making it simple to use without any bloat. You may often find that a feature is missing but if you think about it a while you'll think of a work-around.
The problem the MiniMRP guys face is that everyone has a different requirement and to make a program that satisfies everyone's requirements would lead to bloat. So, mini mrp has a set of features that most people use most of the time. if you need a package that has all features that some people use some of the time then you'd probably be better served looking elsewhere.
By: MikeJaskin | Posted on: Oct 19 2018 at 11:18:51 AM | We solve the Alternate Part Number 'AND' the additional locations problem by using the Custom Fields. (See the Custom fields tab in the Item detail window) Set up a custom field labeled 'Alternate P/N'
So, in the detail record for P/N "GRM188R71H183KA01D" you can enter "MCR10EZPJ103"in the 'Alternate P/N' field that you created. Both part numbers appear on the same row of the BOM.
The additional locations thing is something we also have occasionally. So we've setup one of the custom fields as BIN2. So, each part has its main/default BIN and a BIN2.
In the database all the quantity is in the default BIN but when somebody goes looking for materials he can see both BINs on the BOM.
