Topic:   Obsolete stock in BOMs

I have made a ton of assemblies and components obsolete. Where there's a new assembly or component replacing it in a BOM I have swapped them over. But there are a bunch of obsolete assemblies where these obsoleted parts are inside. Because it's all obsolete there is no point in me wasting time to replace them with the latest version, and really I want to leave those BOMs alone so we know what was used in the past.

But when I look in the "used in" section, it doesn't show which are acive and which are obsolete. Is there a way so that anything that appears in BOMs or the "used in" tab that has been obsoleted will show as text with the line going through the middle so that I know it's obsolete? Otherwise I will need to wrote "OBSOLETE" in front of the decsription of everything in the obsolete section.

We could also use such a feature. Parts marked as "Obsolete" could be rendered in strikethrough text or, as another suggestion, add a column called "Status" which could render the LocHidden field as blank, "hidden" or "obsolete".

Our present method is to add the text "OBSOLETE" in front of obsoleted components in place of MiniMRPs "Obsolete" feature.

The best option would be a way to choose to view or hide any "hidden" or "obsolete" items in the Used In view. But I would be happy with any indicator to be honest.

Currently, writing OBSOLETE in front of all assemblies/components that are obsolete does seem to be the only option which is frustrating.

But I think when you're about to make a component obsolete it should tell you that the component is a part of an assembly and are you sure that you want to make it obsolete. Obsolete parts should be in BOMs unless the parent is also obsolete.

Sorry. I meant to say

Obsolete parts should NOT be in BOMs unless the parent is also obsolete.
