Essentially, I'd like to purchase a group of components from a supplier, providing them only with the code for this grouping. When this single code is received at the warehouse, it will automatically increase the inventory of the components it contains.

When you say a "Grouping" if you mean a group of different parts with different part numbers then, no. That's not possible.
But if you mean a box or bag of the same part then yes. Let's say a box contains 10 of the same item then you can order 1 box and when that box is received it increased the OnHand inventory by 10. To do this look in the little window where you edit the supplier's part number etc. Here you can add a UOM (Unit of Measure) such as BAG, BOX etc with the Qty per UOM and the price of the BAG/BOX. Into that window you can add the same supplier multiple times for example if they supply one of the item as well as small box as well as a big box all at different price. The top one is the default that is used to calculate build costs.
