is there a way to see the full BOM of a product, including all components inside both closed and open sub-assebmlies? or can this only be done by going into each sub-assembly separately?

When looking at a BOM that contains CSAS assemblies you see the little button with the 3 bars at the top of the window. Click that select the option to See inside Closed Sub Assemblies.
