Would it be possible to set the "type" ie "ASSY or CSAS" at the BOM level, so I could have the same assembly set to "ASSY" in one BOM and "CSAS" in another? at the moment I have to keep changing it between printing BOM's

Sorry no. ASSY or CSAS is set at the item detail level.
It is an interesting idea though so all I can do is put this into the 'suggestion' box.
