Topic: Sites switching randomly
|
By: Guest | Posted on: Jun 29 2020 at 07:43:19 AM | Hello - I currently have three sites set up within the same database, however, I have noticed that when not working in the default site, it will randomly switch back to the default site when switching between tabs. I have been unable to pinpoint when it happens. It seems to be a bit random. For example, if I am in non-default site B and click on purchase orders, it switches back to default site A. Is there a rule as to when it switches? Can it prevent a switch unless prompted to switch sites?

I can start the software (default site_A) and open a tab for 'All Components'. at the bottom of the all components window it's possible to switch the view to site_B and it reloads all components for site_B.
Go back to the menu and open another all components tab. this will open all components for site_A. Now there's two tabs looking at different sites.
I suppose closing and opening tabs like that it could get a little confusing but I just keep looking at the site widget at the bottom of the window to remind myself what site I'm working in.
I don't have v5 so I don't know if it can still open multiple tabs in different sites at the same time.

Please consider what JasonW said above. Maybe that is the cause of your problem.
But we'll be checking this as well just in case there's a 'back to default' glitsch in there somewhere.

I suppose it is a possibility that if multiple tabs are opening to different sites, it is using whatever site was selected from the home screen before tabs were opened, but I believe I have seen this happen without any tabs being open.
I have been experiencing the issue randomly in v5 for a bit now, but haven't been able to determine anything that would make sense as to why it is happening so I have held off posting. For example, I may be in a list of POs for Site A, but then click create a new PO and it will open a PO for Site B. I have to then close it and open again until it opens to the correct site. I will continue to monitor to see if I can provide additional details as to when it is happening. I have also asked other users that have experienced this to try to give me more info as to when it is happening.

Basically. When you start the program the default site is set. At this point (ie no tabs/windows open) you can change your default site..
Assuming your default is Site_A then all clicks into the menu bar on the left of the program window are always directed at Site_A. If you open a new tab for "All Components" it will be default site_A and then within that tab you switch to Site_B then that switch is only within that tab. You are now, in effect, 'peaking' at Site_B's components. But your global program default is still Site_A. So any click on the menu bar such as to create a new item would be directed to Site_A (The default).
But. As I said. If you can reproduce the error please email.
