Hello!
I am a manifacturer of stamped parts made out of different sizes of steel strips and we assembly those with different screws and components. We buy the steel strips in coils and I now how much of it I need in order to stamp a specific part that is used in a finished product. Now, is there a way to type in the information about how much of a specific steel strip (which is what we purchase from our suppliers) is needed in order to produce a certain component and it automatically calculating the price of that one peace according to the price of the coil?

Thank you, any help is appreciated.

Little add on:

The reason why I am asking this is because I need to be able to update the price of "type xy" steel, which we buy in coils and that as a result also changing the cost of a stamped part, that we produce. So is there a way of connecting the price of the raw material (the coil) and the component (stamped part) made out of the raw material.

I think the bestway to manage this is to make the raw material (coil) as part and the Stamped part as assembly, where the assembly calls for the part (raw material) + all screws and so on + labour. Like that when you update the price of coil, the assembly will update.

eg. the coil comes in 50m (just to mention something) and you use 10cm of it for a stamped part, then you put the UoM of the coil to meters and 1 coil = 50m and in assembly use 0.1 of it. Or maybe in your case it could be by weight, whichever is the best UoM for you.

We do something similar for cables for example.

Hope this helps

You can also put the UOM into the supplier data. So, for example, ONE COIL has a purchase quantity of ONE and a supplier UOM of 50 MTRS. So when that one coil arrives from the supplier MiniMRP will increase the onhand quantity by 50 (MTRs).

Then, a the previous poster said, the BOM consumes 0.1 MTR of it and the price will be calculated accordingly.
